Abstract:

As we have become more aware of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) being detected within the forensic toxicology community, the lingering question many of us search for answers to is where they are manufactured, how do individuals come into contact with NPS, or what do many of these compounds look like on the street or market. This workshop will provide information from knowledgeable sources to discuss the various aspects of NPS up until the detection in toxicology case work. This workshop’s goal is to educate and continue the ongoing discussion of the what, where and how of novel psychoactive substances in today’s society.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this course, participants will:

  1. Understand where NPS are coming into the market from.
  2. Learn information about what NPS look like physically and how they are synthesized.
  3. Identify indicators to look for in casework for trending NPS.
  4. Comprehend trends with combinations of certain drugs and combinations.
Agenda:

Time: On-demand in the SOFT Learning Center
