About
The Young Forensic Toxicologists Committee was founded in 2009 to promote education, networking, and interaction among young forensic toxicology practitioners. The Young Forensic Toxicologist Committee hosts a Symposium, Professional Development Fair, the Leo Dal Cortivo Awards, and the Student Enrichment Program each year at the SOFT Annual Meeting. YFT also participates in year-round activities such as continuing education webinars, SOFT workshops, and contributing to ToxTalk.
Symposium and Professional Development Fair
The Symposium begins with a social hour where hors d’oeuvres will be served and professional networking will be encouraged. During the Professional Development Fair (PDF), representatives from various accreditation/ certifying agencies, graduate programs and laboratories will be available to discuss continuing education, professional training, board certification, academic and career opportunities including scientific writing.
Student Enrichment Program
The YFT Committee hosts a day-long Student Enrichment Program (SEP) to expose high school students to the profession of forensic toxicology. Students will learn about various disciplines within forensic toxicology, what knowledge and skills are necessary for this career path and participate in hands-on activities all taught by practicing forensic toxicologists.
